The beauty about travel is that even after you have left the place of visit it stays with you as sights, sounds & flavours that you have experienced in course of your travel. So for me atleast there is no timeline for writing a travelogue, I get transported to the place as soon as I close my eyes. As if I was there a few hours ago. I visited Uttarakhand last year in March, and after the first installment of my Uttarakhand travelogue this is quite a delay. But nonetheless here I am blogging about the rest my journey in Devbhoomi. Mussoorie, the famous hillstation is something you can’t afford to miss while visiting Uttarakhand. This small town aptly called the Queen of hills is located at a distance of 85Kms from Haridwar and can be reached via car in 2.5hrs. We only had 1 day to explore Mussoorie, if you happen to have more time please include Landour and Dhanaulti in your itinerary. Kempty falls is undoubtedly the most popular tourist spot in Mussoorie. The waterfall is picturesque with milky streams of water falling from a height of 40 meters but a little crowded for my liking. This place remains packed throughout the day, you can take a bath at the waterfall but people who care about hygiene should give it a miss. nonetheless it’s a good place to spend time with your family and friends. To reach the base of waterfall you need to climb down stairs for atleast 15mins, the way up is far more difficult. it’s advisable to take cable car for both way journey. There are ample shops available here to take your lunch. On the way back from waterfall do stop at hair pin bend viewpoint to take pictures in traditional Garhwali costumes. Next spot we visited was Company Garden. You will enjoy this place if you are visiting Mussoorie with family, there is an amusement park within the premises and a lake for boat rides. But the thing I liked most about this place was the colourful flowers on display, I was simply blown away by the beauty and variety of colours that I witnessed there. Nature reveals itself in all its glory for all to behold. There is also a lot of view points in Mussoorie that are popular like the Gun Hill Point, Lal Tibba and Jeorge Everest Point but the one which I liked the most is Dalai Hill. This spot is relatively new but slowly gaining a lot of popularity. It’s a 400 meter treak from the Tibetan Temple, this view point has a large statue of Buddha overlooking the beautiful mountain ranges. The place is decorated with colorful Tibetan prayer flags and the 360 degree view of Mountain ranges will surely make your heart skip a beat. Do visit Bhatta falls if you want in indulge in adventure sports like zipline and Giant swing. Do not forget to visit Library Chowk, this is the Mall area in Mussoorie and will remind you of its rich colonial past. Mussoorie is also famous for its bakeries , cafes & Lovely omelette shop. There is also a natural phenomenon called winterline that can be witnessed from Mussoorie in December every year, so do make your plans accordingly. That sums up my tour in Uttarakhand, but will return soon as there is lot left to be explored in Uttarakhand. Happy travels!
